Yes, they go together. The duvet cover is meant to a bit smaller for better fit, less sliding of comforter in the duvet, and to create a more lofty topper or layer for the bed.

nice for cold nights
I'm so glad I bought this-- it is just the right weight/warmth for cold nights. I have it tucked inside a flannel duvet cover and I sleep directly under it without blankets. The flannel might make it a little too warm, actually. I like that it is not physically heavy and there are no feathers or mites to worry about. I bought a king size that drapes nicely over my queen size bed without trailing on the floor. (I have a high mattress). Highly recommend.

Very comfortable and right in all aspects
I like it as a daily use comforter. It is perfect for the cold temperatures and keeps me warm. I get good sleep and wake up fresh after I started using it.

Great Duvet
We have had several duvets. All of them have been disappointing, too small, not warm enough, lumpy. This duvet has been the best. It is the perfect size, easy to work with, just the right temperature. I should have bought one from GH before and would have saved a lot of aggravation.
