Yes, they go together. The duvet cover is meant to a bit smaller for better fit, less sliding of comforter in the duvet, and to create a more lofty topper or layer for the bed.

Signature Down Alternative Comforter
A really great comforter! No shifting feathers. My daughter has had hers for 2 years. Keeps itsshape. She recommended I buy one, and glad I did.

Could not love it more!
Great fabric on the exterior. Looks well sewn. Very warm. The down alternative has a nice loft which bounces back after use and in perfectly distributed throughout the duvet. Fits my duvet cover perfectly and does not seem to move around inside the duvet cover. Stays put. My last duvet was a pricey feather filled one and I would say I am much happier with this down alternative for all the above reasons. I am hopeful the down alternative will not lump up like the feathers did.

Great comforter with right size
Garnet Hill is the only place that has the perfect sized comforter with tabs to fit into my daughter's duvet cover. I wish the comforter came in more weight sizes for year round use.
